Stone Town Tour
A Walking Tour through the Past and Present of Stone Town
Service Description
Stone Town is a lively place where you’ll find a mixture of Arabic, African, Indian, and European cultures living harmoniously. As you walk the labyrinth of streets too narrow for cars to pass, you’ll see mosques, churches, and temples side-by-side. On this tour of the city, your guide will take you on a historical and cultural journey, from the old slave market to Darajani marketplace, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace. Stop for lunch in a restaurant or local home (if arranged beforehand). While this tour is only half a day, we recommend staying in Stone Town for at least two days to discover its many other magnificent wonders. Forodhani Gardens is definitely worth a visit, especially at night when it comes alive as one of the best street food markets in East Africa.
